We are transforming lives...

My story and my journey are our group victory, our growth story and our success story. I got to a point in my life where I needed and demanded change in my life! I was working in a job where I was waking up 4am and getting back home at 7/8pm.  I had no time for myself, my partner and my family. All the things in life that mattered to me were put aside. I got to a place where things in my life had to change. I hit a deep low point in my mental health journey.

My bestie, Lady T, recommended a learning platform where I could upskill to transitioning from a software developer to a Product Owner. Worth noting, Lady T, just secured her role as a Scrum Master in a big financial organisation with no prior technology working experience. Honestly, I joined the recommended platform with the intention to only upskill and become a better developer – a developer that can work in an agile setting. During my learning, I just into a dark place in my life. On one hand, I knew that I can become a great product owner based on my experience working as a Product Owner on the learning platform. On the other hand, my Scrum team was poorly managed which led to the collapse of the team. This was a pivotal experience in my journey. I was 100% sure that I wanted to become a Product Owner. In addition, I knew to become a Product Owner I needed to take my career transition into the next level.

On the advice of my best friend, J, I made a decision to leave the learning platform to join ITyDATA, a career transformation platform. This was literally the single best decision I made this year! I fully immersed myself at ITyDATA – mastering Product Website, and Product CRM. I was upskilling my knowledge and skills voraciously. I was deliberately practising Product Owner roles and responsibilities. I was a living product owner. As a result of deliberate practise, I knew and understood what a Business Analyst and Scrum Master do. I was great at it! I decided to put myself in the job market. At first it was tough. J advised me to be tougher than the market. I continued applying myself to Product Website, deep upskilling and voracious job application & interview preparation. It was morning, lunch break and evening grinding for me.

It all ended with three offers – 2 Product Owner and 1 Scrum Master. Today, I am in a better financial position, working better hours and better work-life balance. I have some time for myself, my partner, and my family. I can’t thank Team Website and Team CRM enough, you all are the best! Your support, your advice and all the time we spent developing our products made my career transformation a reality.

At the end of the day, I am heading to become a Scrum Master at a leading investment management firm where I will be delivering cloud technology + big data to managed billions of pounds!
